 REN vs THU Toss Prediction

Recent T20 matches at the Simonds Stadium, Geelong, have favoured the teams that fielded first with relatively low scoring matches played here. There will also be a fresh wicket with lots of pace and movement for the first few overs. Based on this, despite the dry conditions, the team that wins the toss will likely opt to field first.

 REN vs THU Weather Report

The weather is predicted to be sunny and very hot, with temperatures souring as high as 39 degrees Celsius. The afternoon will bring a gentle breeze and there is virtually no chance of rain.

 REN vs THU Pitch Condition

The match will be played at Simonds Stadium, Geelong. The wicket will be fresh and as such will likely have lots of pace and movement for the bowlers. The team first in at the crease will need to be vigilant and bat defensively for the first few overs to avoid any cheap wickets.

 Key Players:

 REN Key Players:

The Renegades have a wealth of talented openers to choose from, including; Captain Aaron Finch, Marcus Harris, Sam Harper (who has played very well in warm-ups) and recent acquisition from the Perth Scorchers, Shaun Marsh. The latter boasts a BBL average of 49.8 and will add to an already dangerous batting line-up.
Mohammad Nabi, Tom Cooper, Beau Webster, Dan Christian and Will Sutherland are all very capable all-rounders, a strength which was instrumental in helping them claim their first ever BBL title in 2018/19.

 THU Key Players:

Captain Callum Ferguson is in form and will be one to look out for and classy batsman Usman Khawaja will add further steel to the top order. Chris Tremain, who has a great bowling economy and T20 specialist, Chris Green, will form the spearhead of Sydney Thunder’s attack.

 Team Forms:

 MELBOURNE RENEGADES:

It’s hard to know if the Melbourne Renegades will live up to the standards they set last time out but they’ve added some talented players to their line-ups and if they can recapture some of their form from the BBL, they will be a tough prospect.

 SYDNEY THUNDER:

With such a changed team representing Sydney Thunder, its virtually impossible to know how they will play. Sydney Thunder finished 6th in the rankings in the last BBL and will be disappointed overall with their performances, having lost 7 of their 14 matches. However, they’ve made lots of changes and it remains to be seen if they will improve upon their performances last year.

 SQUAD:
MELBOURNE RENEGADES: Aaron Finch(c), Sam Harper(w), Shaun Marsh, Tom Cooper, Daniel Christian, Beau Webster, Alex Doolan, Cameron Boyce, Richard Gleeson, Harry Gurney, Kane Richardson, Will Sutherland, Jack Wildermuth.

SYDNEY THUNDER:  Alex Hales, Usman Khawaja, Callum Ferguson(c), Alex Ross, Jonathan Cook, Matthew Gilkes(w), Arjun Nair, Chris Green, Daniel Sams, Liam Hatcher, Nathan McAndrew, Tanveer Sangha, Chris Tremain.

All the best
