 TST vs DUR  Toss Prediction

Centurion Park produces a fast wicket and Tshwane Spartans – who are yet to win a toss – could elect to field first, having been successful chasing last time out.

 TST vs DUR  Weather Report

A thunderstorm is scheduled to hit Centurion in the late afternoon, just before this game. Though the forecast is clear later, the key will be how quickly the ground can dry.

 TST vs DUR  Pitch Condition

One of the faster wickets in South Africa, pace, bounce and a fast outfield combine to favour fast bowlers and big hitting.

Team NEWS:

 TST Team News

Tom Curran made his first Mzansi Super League appearance last time out, opening the bowling having flown to South Africa after England’s T20i series win against New Zealand. Donavon Ferreria also came into the team, with Corbin Bosch, Vaughn van Jaarsveld and Tony de Zorzi all pushing for recalls. The Spartans could stick with their winning side, however.

 DUR Team News
Wihan Lubbe played as a pinch hitter last time out, coming at number three and batting brilliantly. A lack of runs from elsewhere was what proved costly and the top order need to improve this time out if they are to keep their places.

 Predicted Lineups (Playing11):

 Durban Heat

Sarel Erwee, Alex Hales, Wihan Lubbe, Dane Vilas (c, wk), David Miller, Ravi Bopara, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Prenelan Subrayen, Kyle Abbott, Malusi Siboto.

 Tshwane Spartans

Theunis de Bruyn, Dean Elgar, AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen (c, wk), Roelof van der Merwe, Tom Curran, Donavon Ferreria, Pite van Biljon, Morne Morkel, Lungi Ngidi, Lutho Sipamla.

 Key Players:

 DUR Key Players:

 Wihan Lube:
Came in at number three and hammered seven fours and five sixes on his way to 83 from 42 balls. His dismissal was the turning point of the chase.

 Kyle Abbott:
Took four wickets against the Spartans in one of Durban Heat’s victories last season and, in his first bowl of this season, took 1-29 from his four overs.

 Ravi Bopara:
Picked up a wicket but was generally too expensive and scored too slowly too. He is a key all-rounder, however, as he proved in the T20 Blast with Essex Eagles.

 TST Key Players:

 AB de Villiers:
Starred in this fixture last year, even if it was in a losing cause, but his explosive batting is known, admired and feared the world over.

 Dean Elgar:
Hit seven fours and two sixes on his way to 88* from 60 balls last time out, setting the platform from which the Spartans attacked to victory.

 Heinrich Klaasen:
Elgar went deep, but it was Klaasen’s quick-fire 31* from 13 balls that ultimately made the difference last time out – the captain firing the Spartans to victory with five balls to spare.

 TST vs DUR  Dream11 Prediction:

Wicket-keeper(s)

The two captains are key batsmen for their respective teams, but Heinrich Klaasen played a key innings for Tshwane Spartans last time out and, with both he and Dane Vilas at the same price, he looks the better option for now.

Batsmen

AB de Villiers is 11 credits but his global reputation is undoubted and he remains a key T20 player wherever he plays. Alex Hales is ten credits, meanwhile, but the English opener is capable of an explosive innings at the top of the order too. The star men for each team last time out – Dean Elgar for the Spartans and Wihan Lubbe for the Heat – are great value at nine and eight credits apiece, while Theunis de Bruyn could be worth picking up at 8.5 credits.

All-rounders

Andile Phehlukwayo took two wickets for Durban Heat last time out and, though he costs 9.5 credits, he is good value. That leaves space for one more all-rounder, and Ravi Bopara and Roelof van der Merwe have both showed good form prior to this tournament.

Bowlers
~
Tom Curran and Lungi Ngidi are both nine credits, but Curran took a wicket last time out and is also the more likely to feature with the bat. Morne Morkel took two vital wickets, meanwhile, so his price of 8.5 credits is well worth paying. That leaves 8.5 credits for one more bowler and Kyle Abbott is a key man for Durban Heat.

Captain/vice-captain

Though he fell short last time out, AB de Villiers’ batting makes him hard to ignore up the order. Tom Curran took a wicket last time out and is capable of some big hitting too, meanwhile, and the England man could rack up some points to make him a useful vice-captain if he hits top form

 Team Forms:

 Tshwane Spartans:

Tshwane Spartans’ first match was abandoned without a ball being bowled and the second lasted just 7.1 overs. Last time out, however, they made up for lost time. Morne Morkel took 2-24 as Paarl Rocks hit 185/6, but Dean Elgar’s 88* anchored the chase and the Spartans won by eight wickets with five balls to spare.

 Durban Heat:

Durban Heat saw their first two matches at Kingsmead washed out, and they lost the third against Cape Town Blitz. Set 175 to win, Wihan Lubbe set the platform with 83 from 42 balls but they could only post 164/7 to fall to a ten-run defeat.

 SQUAD:
TSHWANE SPARTANS:  Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen(w/c), Petrus van Biljon, Donavon Ferreira, Theunis de Bruyn, Roelof van der Merwe, Tom Curran, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Morne Morkel, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Corbin Bosch, Lutho Sipamla, Waqar Salamkheil.

DURBAN HEAT: Alex Hales, Khaya Zondo, David Miller, Dane Vilas(w/c), Wesley Marshall, Ravi Bopara, Andile Phehlukwayo, Sarel Erwee, Shaun von Berg, Prenelan Subrayen, Keshav Maharaj, Kyle Abbott, Malusi Siboto, Daryn Dupavillon, Wihan Lubbe, Marco Jansen.

All the best
