 Toss Prediction

Papua New Guinea have not won the toss since they last played Namibia – losing four in a row since. If they overturn that run of bad luck, they will surely look to bat first – as they did in that match – on a batting wicket in Dubai.

 Weather Report

While the evening will naturally mean a bit of the scorching mid-day heat will have eased, it is still set to be hot and dry in Dubai. (As ever, Dubai will be perfect for cricket with hot, dry conditions).

 Pitch Condition

The Dubai International Cricket Stadium favors batting, particularly in the first innings of matches.

 Team NEWS:

 NAM Team News

After their second defeat of the group stage, against Papua New Guinea, Namibia welcomed opener Stephan Baard and teenager Ben Shikongo back. They have since won five in a row without making any further changes.

 PNG Team News
Papua New Guinea has fielded the same team for all six matches so far and it is unlikely there will be any changes going into the play-offs.

Key Players:

 Namibia Key Players:

 Bernard Scholtz:
Took 3-14 with his slow left-arm bowling in the play-off win against Oman to move to 11 wickets in his last four games and 14 in the tournament in total.

 JJ Smit:
Outstanding with bat and ball to turn the play-off against Oman on its head. His 59 took him to 164 runs in the tournament, while his 2-12 means he now has 11 wickets across the seven matches.

 Christi Vilijoen:
Figures of 3-14 continued his fine bowling form, having taken 1-14 from his four overs against Kenya and claimed two wickets in each of the three matches prior to that. He finished the group stage with ten wickets.

 Jan Frylinck:
Took 3-18 in the match against Papua New Guinea, and 4-21 against Singapore on his way to 15 wickets in Namibia’s seven matches so far. While normally considered an all-rounder, the left-hander’s batting has barely been called upon.

 PNG Key Players:

 Tony Ura:
Scored 71 from 42 balls when these teams last met and the big-hitting opener hit 177 runs in six matches in the group stage in total.

 Assad Vala:
Shared a century stand with Ura when these teams last met and hit 184 runs in the group stage in total. He also claimed nine wickets, including three when these teams last met and 3-7 in the win against Kenya.

 Norman Vanua:
Hit a vital half-century down the order against Kenya in Papua New Guinea’s low-scoring win and claimed eight wickets across the group stage – including a hat-trick in his first over of the first game.
