Info:
- Defending champions Jozi Stars will bid to end their losing streak at the start of MSL 2.0 when they take on Tshwane Spartans.
- The Stars have lost five from five so far, failing to live up to last season's heights after a string of below-par batting performances. That continued last time out, when they scored just 129/3 in a four-wicket defeat to Paarl Rocks.
- Tshwane Spartans, meanwhile, have only managed one completed game because of the rain because of the rain - they were denied victory against Durban Heat last time out when the weather intervened with them well on top.

JOZ vs TST Toss Prediction
Jozi Stars have won the toss in all five matches this season, not that it has done them any good. They are due to lose this one, and Tshwane Spartans could be keen to bat first.
JOZ vs TST Weather Report
While there is a small chance of rain, conditions in Johannesburg should otherwise be clear and sunny, with temperatures into the high 20s.
JOZ vs TST Pitch Condition
The Wanderers is a batting haven and scores should be big in this match.
Team NEWS:
JOZ Team News
Ryan Rickleton replaced injured Gerald Coetzee last time out, moving up the order to open as Chris Gayle dropped to three. This will be Gayle’s final appearance, before Shoaib Malik takes over.
TST Team News
TST Team News
Wiaan Mulder replaced Donavon Ferreira last time out and could retain his place after the rain denied him the chance to prove his worth with the ball. Tshwane Spartans might otherwise elect for the same team that had put them in such a commanding position before the weather curtailed their efforts.

Key Players:
TST Key Players:
AB de Villiers:
The big-hitting South African remains one of the world’s most dangerous batsmen in limited-overs cricket and, against a struggling Stars team, he could fill his boots.
Dean Elgar:
He started the tournament with 88* from 60 balls and followed that up last time out by hitting seven fours on his way to 57* from 37 balls.
Lungi Ngidi:
The fit-again paceman showed what he offers with the ball when he took wickets with each of the first two deliveries last time out. He now has 61 in 51 T20 innings.
JOZ Key Players:
Rassie van der Dussen:
Starred in this fixture last season, as he did in most games, and showed signs his form could be returning with an unbeaten 30 last time out. Now he needs to ramp the run rates back up again.
Kagiso Rabada:
Claimed 2-24 last time out as he showed a return to wicket-taking form. The paceman now has five wickets in as many games.
Reeza Hendricks:
Opened the tournament with scores of 80 and 62 and hit three fours on his way to a patient 40 from 34 balls last time out too.
TST vs JOZ Dream11 Prediction:
Wicket-keeper(s)
Heinrich Klaasen has already proved his worth with the bat, starting this tournament in good form. Even at nine credits, he could be the top pick. Ryan Rickelton is another option, however, having returned to the top of the Stars’ batting order last time out. He scored slowly, however.
Batsmen
AB de Villiers might not have matched his 11-credit cost with his form so far, but there is no doubting what he is capable of if he gets going. With him in, however, Chris Gayle at ten credits might be a step too far – particularly if you would prefer Rassie van der Dussen at 9.5 credits. The top batsmen for each team, however, have been Reeza Hendricks and Dean Elgar. At nine credits each, they are great value. Temba Bavuma, at 8.5 credits, is another possible option, as is Theunis de Bruyn at the same price.
All-rounders
Simon Harmer and Dan Christian are both nine credits for Jozi Stars, but Roelof van der Merwe and Wiaan Mulder at 8.5 credits each could be better options.
Bowlers
~
Kagiso Rabada is the most expensive bowler at 9.5 credits but he did take two wickets last time out, as did Proteas’ team-mate and fellow paceman Lungi Ngidi, who is nine credits. With those two in, there is still enough for two bowlers at 8.5 credits apiece – where Duanne Olivier and Morne Morkel sit for their respective teams.
Captain/vice-captain
Dean Elgar and Reeza Hendricks are the men in for with the bat and at least one of those two is worth considering. Elgar comes into the match in particularly good touch and so might edge it. With the ball, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi both looked back to their best as they took two wickets each in their teams’ most recent games. Ngidi’s opening over points to him being a potentially good vice-captain.
Team Forms:
JOZI STARS:
Jozi Stars have lost five from five this season. Their batting, led by Reeza Hendricks in their first two games, showed signs to be positive but it has fallen well short since. They were bowled out for 126 and 108 in their next two matches and struggled to 129/3 last time out – on their way to a four-wicket defeat.
Tshwane Spartans:
Rain has meant only one of Tshwane Spartans’ four matches so far has reached a conclusion. That was the match against Paarl Rocks, when Dean Elgar smashed 88* to lead a chase of 186 to win by eight wickets with five balls to spare. Last time out, Elgar’s 57* had led the Spartans to 141/4 from 15 overs when the rain came against Durban Heat. Durban were set a revised 66 to win from five overs, and the Spartans were well on top when Lungi Ngidi took wickets with each of the first two balls. The rain returned, however, forcing yet another no result.
SQUAD:
JOZ: Reeza Hendricks, Rassie van der Dussen, Temba Bavuma(c), Delano Potgieter, Shoaib Malik, Daniel Christian, Sinethemba Qeshile(w), Kagiso Rabada, Aaron Phangiso, Nono Pongolo, Dane Paterson, Ryan Rickelton, Eathan Bosch, Lizaad Williams, Simon Harmer, Duanne Olivier, Chris Gayle.
TSHWANE SPARTANS: Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen(w/c), Petrus van Biljon, Donavon Ferreira, Theunis de Bruyn, Roelof van der Merwe, Tom Curran, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Morne Morkel, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Corbin Bosch, Lutho Sipamla, Waqar Salamkheil.
