 DUR vs TST Toss Prediction

On a pitch good for seamers, Dane Vilas will want to win his first toss as Durban captain and will probably put the Spartans in to bat.

 DUR vs TST Weather Report

Showers are forecast early on in Durban on Saturday, but the chance of rain drops to 24 per cent in the afternoon. At the very least it will be humid and overcast at Kingsmead, however.

 DUR vs TST Pitch Condition

Traditionally favouring the seam bowlers, there should be a little assistance off the pitch for the quicks.

Team NEWS:

 DUR Team News

Dane Vilas won the title with Jozi Stars last season but has now moved to captain Durban Heat. He was their top draft pick, while they had already secured Andile Phehlukwayo and Alex Hales as marquee players and signed up Ravi Bopara. They did not retain many, but Kyle Abbott, David Miller and Keshav Maharaj are sticking around. Robbie Frylinck was initially selected, but dropped out to play in the T10 league. Wesley Marshall took his place.

 TST Team News
Tshwane Spartans will have to wait for their overseas marquee player, with Tom Curran currently away on England duty in New Zealand. AB de Villiers stuck around as Protea Marquee Player, while Lungi Ngidi and Theunis de Bruyn were among those on a short retained list. In come players like Morne Morkel, Roelof van der Merwe and Heinrich Klaasen. This is a team packed with experience.

 Key Players:

 DUR Key Players:

 Dane Vilas:
Captained Jozi Stars to victory last season and was a key figure for Lancashire throughout the 2019 English domestic season too. He could show why he commanded such a high fee in the Hundred draft last month as well.

 Andile Phehlukwayo:
Selected as their Protea Marquee Player, the all-rounder will be especially key with the ball at Kingsmead.

 Kyle Abbot:
Took four wickets when these teams last met and was in excellent T20 Blast form for Hampshire in the English summer. He has 150 wickets in 144 T20 innings in total.

 TST Key Players:

 AB de Villiers:
Who else? When these teams last met, he smashed 93* from 52 balls. Most recently he was in fine form for Middlesex in the T20 Blast. He has 57 T20 50s and four centuries, on his way to 8,186 runs at a strike rate just shy of 150.

 Lungi Ngidi:
This will be his 50th T20 innings as a bowler, and he has picked up 59 wickets with an economy rate of an excellent 7.01 (for an opening pace bowler) from the previous 49.

 Theunis de Bruyn:
In excellent form in South Africa’s other domestic T20 competition for the Titans, scoring 36, 42, 72*, 50 and 45* in his five most recent T20 innings.

 DUR vs TST Dream11 Prediction:

Wicket-keeper(s)

Both captains, Dane Vilas and Heinrich Klaasen, are likely to be behind the stumps for their teams and both could be key figures too, making them worth picking up at nine credits apiece.

Batsmen

AB de Villiers is set to be the star of the show and the South African icon is 11 credits. He will be worth that if he fires though, and the same applies to Alex Hales at ten credits and David Miller at 9.5. All three boast stacks of international quality. To balance cost, Vaughn van Jaarsveled and, in particular, Theunis de Bruyn showed good form in the other T20 competition in April.

All-rounders

With so much batting, you can save some credits on the all-rounders too. You only need to fill one space and Roelof van der Merwe arrives on the back of some strong T20 form for the Netherlands as they booked their World Cup spot.

Bowlers
~
Onto the three bowlers, and Lungi Ngidi leads the way but you can find excellent value elsewhere too. Tom Curran is away, but Kyle Abbott and Keshav Maharaj are both 8.5 credits, as is Morne Morkel.

Captain/vice-captain

This teams leans heavily towards batting but that is because there are some quality batsmen set to be on display. AB de Villiers leads the way and if he fires, he will go big once again. A good vice-captain option may be found with the ball, however – Lungi Ngidi is a key figure, while Kyle Abbott took four in this fixture when they last met.

 Team Forms:

 Durban Heat:

Victories in their final two games of last season, including against the Tshwane Spartans, could not prevent Durban Heat finishing bottom of the table. They won three matches and lost six in total, with one no result.

 Tshwane Spartans:

Defeats in their final two games consigned Tshwane Spartans to fifth place in the MSL table last season, with a record of four wins and six losses from their ten matches.

 SQUAD:
DURBAN HEAT: Alex Hales, Khaya Zondo, David Miller, Dane Vilas(w/c), Wesley Marshall, Ravi Bopara, Andile Phehlukwayo, Sarel Erwee, Shaun von Berg, Prenelan Subrayen, Keshav Maharaj, Kyle Abbott, Malusi Siboto, Daryn Dupavillon, Wihan Lubbe, Marco Jansen.

TSHWANE SPARTANS:  Dean Elgar, Tony de Zorzi, AB de Villiers, Heinrich Klaasen(w/c), Petrus van Biljon, Donavon Ferreira, Theunis de Bruyn, Roelof van der Merwe, Tom Curran, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Morne Morkel, Vaughn van Jaarsveld, Corbin Bosch, Lutho Sipamla, Waqar Salamkheil.

All the best
