 Head to Head Stats

This is Bangla Tigers’ first match in the Abu Dhabi T10 League and so their first match against Deccan Gladiators too.

 Info:

  • Two of the T10 League's new franchises go head-to-head in their first fixture in Group A of the 2019 tournament in Abu Dhabi.
  • Delhi Bulls will be led by England captain Eoin Morgan, but their preparations have been hit by the controversy over the Pakistan's refusal to issue NOCs to four of their players.
  • Deccan Gladiators are led by Shane Watson though Kieron Pollard and Sheldon Cottrell are unavailable for the start of the tournament as they are away with the West Indies.

 DEG vs BAT Toss Prediction

Teams tend to field first upon winning the toss in this tournament – after their misfortune with their Pakistan players having their NOCs removed, Eoin Morgan and the Bulls are due some fortune at the toss.

 DEG vs BAT Weather Report

Conditions are set fair for the day in Abu Dhabi, with temperatures in the high 20s and no chance of rain on the forecast.

 DEG vs BAT Pitch Condition

The Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium will see plenty of runs thanks to its good bounce and lightning-fast outfield, but the pitch does offer some redress for the bowlers too.

Team NEWS:

 DEG Team News

Tymal Mills and Chandrapaul Hemraj were the notable absentees from the Deccan Gladiators team that faced Delhi Bulls first up. Both represent excellent options, particularly given Hemraj’s Caribbean Premier League form, if the Gladiators choose to mix it up after their opening loss.

 BAT Team News
Bangla Tigers only had one Pakistan player to replace when the PCB removed their No Objection Certificates and that was Hassan Khan. Since they originally named their squad, Amanul Haque has also dropped out, but Mohammad Abdul Hashem, Tom Moores, Kevin Koththiigoda and Prabath Jayasuriya have all been added to bulk out their numbers. Thisara Perera will lead the team, while Robbie Frylinck turned down an MSL contract to take part.

 Predicted Lineups (Playing11):

 Deccan Gladiators

Shane Watson (c), Mohammad Shahzad (wk), Anton Devcich, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Ben Cutting, Migael Pretorius, Dan Lawrence, Zahoor Khan, Zahir Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Mason Crane.

 Bangla Tigers

Colin Ingram, Andre Fletcher (wk), Rilee Rossouw, Tom Moores, Thisara Perera (c), Robbie Frylinck, Liam Plunkett, David Wiese, Shehan Jayasuriya, Qais Ahmad, Prabath Jayasuriya.

 Key Players:

 DEG Key Players:

 Shane Watson:
Proved why he is a marquee player this season as he hit an unbeaten 57 from 31 balls at the top of the order last time out. The Australian hit five fours and two sixes.

 Fawad Ahmed:
Bowled economically in his first over, and his array of T20 experience the world over proves he can hold an end with the ball, as well as take regular wickets.

 Zahir Khan:
Opened the bowling and immediately put the Gladiators on the front foot in the second innings as he claimed thee wickets, finishing with figures of 3-17.

 BAT Key Players:

 Robbie Frylinck:
A huge hitter of the ball down the order and a superb death bowler too, the South African all-rounder looks an ideal fit for T10 cricket so it is easy to see why he opted for this rather than the Mzansi Super League.

 Thisara Perera:
The icon player of the team, he boasts a strike rate of 152.41 in T20 international cricket and is a useful pace bowler too. He has been quiet lately, only featuring sporadically in the Global T20 Canada and CPL, so this is a chance to roar back into form.

 Colin Ingram:
A big-hitting opener, he made useful starts in almost of all his most recent innings in the Caribbean Premier League – and useful starts mount up in T10 cricket.

 DEG vs BAT Dream11 Prediction:

Wicket-keeper

Mohammad Shahzad is behind the stumps for the Gladiators and opened the batting last time
out, while Andre Fletcher is set to perform the same role for Bangla Tigers. At 8.5 credits apiece, they
are both excellent value and cases could be made for including both too.

Batsmen

Deccan Gladiators’ out-and-out batsmen were not called upon last time out, which highlights the
Dream 11 restrictions on your line-up. Colin Ingram should feature prominently up the order for the
Tigers, however. Rilee Rossouw is also a big-hitting batsmen in that team, while Shehan Jayasuriya –
though listed as a batsmen – could have a role to play with the ball.

All-rounders

Shane Watson is 11 credits but hit a half-century to prove his worth the bat last time out
– albeit he did not bowl. Thisara Perera will definitely bowl and might even push himself up the order
for the Tigers. After the two captains, you have space for one more. Anton Devcich’s batting was too slow
last time out, so Robbie Frylinck might be the better option at nine credits, given he will be so
important with the ball.

Bowlers
~
Onto the bowlers and you are spoiled for choice there too. You still need two Gladiators at this
point, but Zahir Khan is a bargain at eight credits after his excellent bowling last time out. Fawad
Ahmed is on the opposite end of the experience scale but he is equally important. Qais Ahmad is another
young Afghanistan spinner looking to impress in this tournament to force his way back into international
reckoning, meanwhile, and he could be a bargain at 8.5 credits.

Captain/Vice-captain

Shane Watson proved why he costs 11 credits with his half-century last time out
and, given he could bowl an over or two too, he is well worth picking as captain. Zahir Khan starred with
the ball for the Gladiators last time out, but they have their own key all-rounders in Thisara Perera and
Robbie Frylinck who will both be vital with the ball. Given Frylinck’s excellent death bowling, he looks
well-suited to T10 cricket and therefore a good vice-captain choice too

 Team Forms:

 Deccan Gladiators:

Deccan Gladiators started life in the Abu Dhabi T10 League with a defeat against Delhi Bulls. Shane Watson hit 57* from 31 balls in a total of 102/1 and Zahir Khan’s 3-17 put the Gladiators on the front foot. They could not keep the pressure up, however, as they fell to a seven-wicket defeat.

 Bangla Tigers:

Bangla Tigers are set for their T10 debut.

SQUAD:
Deccan Gladiators (From): Mohammad Shahzad(w), Shane Watson(c), Anton Devcich, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Ben Cutting, Migael Pretorius, Daniel Lawrence, Zahir Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Mason Crane, Zahoor Khan, Prashant Gupta, Tymal Mills, Imtiaz Ahmed, Sharif Asadullah, Asif Khan.
