 AUS vs SL Toss Prediction

Sri Lanka batted first in each of their three games in Pakistan – twice by choice. The Adelaide Oval could demand a similar choice this time out.

 AUS vs SL Weather Report

Though cool and cloudy through the day in Adelaide, the chance of rain is very low and conditions should generally be good for cricket.

 AUS vs SL Pitch Condition

Even since switching to drop-in pitches, the Adelaide Oval has retained its reputation for producing batting wickets.

Team NEWS:

 AUS Team News

Aaron Finch is an injury doubt due to a side strain, though he has publicly stated his optimism that he will start the series. If he does not feature, Australia still have plenty of options in a strong 14-man squad, with Alex Carey the most likely to captain the team if Finch is not risked.

D’Arcy Short, the top run scorer at the Big Bash again last season, is a notable absentee but Steve Smith and David Warner are back in the squad. Marcus Stoinis has also been dropped.

 SL Team News
While they have Lasith Malinga, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera and co back, Sri Lanka may keep faith with some of the lesser-known stars who impressed in Pakistan. Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Oshada Fernado both impressed on their T20i debuts and it may be hard to drop them.

 Predicted Lineups (Playing11):

 Australia

David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Turner/Ashton Agar, Alex Carey (wk), Kane Richardson, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Billy Stanlake, Adam Zampa.

 Sri Lanka

Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Perera, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Lakshan Sandakan, Lasith Malinga (c), Kasun Rajitha, Nuwan Pradeep.

 Key Players:

 AUS Key Players:

 Glenn Maxwell:
The all-rounder helped Lancashire to the T20 Blast quarter-finals and will now look to build on his T20i averages of 34.40 with the bat and 27.07 with the ball. He has three T20i centuries to his name, including 113* in the most recent win against India in February.

 Mitchell Starc:
After 27 wickets in ten matches at the 50-over World Cup, the left-arm paceman will look to add to his 31 wickets in 23 T20i matches during this series as he returns to lead the Australian attack.

 Aaron Finch:
In superb form domestically, after hammering an unbeaten 188 in a one-day game for Victoria against Queensland. Australia will be keen to have the big-hitting opener available as he looks to add to his nine 50s and two centuries in T20i cricket.

 SL Key Players:

 Lasith Malinga:
The Sri Lankan icon is back to captain the team in Australia. His most recent T20 international saw him claim those astonishing figures of 5-6 against New Zealand – moving past 100 T20 international wickets in his 76th game.

 Oshada Fernando:
Profited from the absence of senior players in Pakistan to make his debut in the final game, in which he scored an unbeaten 78. That earned him a place on this tour, and he top-scored in the warm-up game with 38 from 25 balls.

 Nuwan Pradeep:
In Malinga’s absence, the paceman was in superb form in Pakistan. He took 3-21 in his first match and then 4-25 in the second, before being rested for the final game of the series.

 AUS vs SL Dream11 Prediction:

Wicket-keeper

Kusal Perera and Niroshan Dickwella are both listed at nine credits for Sri Lanka, but Australia’s Alex Carey could be a good-value pick at 8.5 credits if your point short .5 – especially if Finch misses out through injury and he is bumped up the order.

Batsmen

The big question is whether you can afford to risk Aaron Finch’s fitness. The answer would be probably yes, given what he can produce with the bat if he is fit. With David Warner returning too, that is 20.5 credits taken up between them, so Steve Smith – who is also ten credits – may be too much. Oshada Fernando is only eight credits, however, and a good chance to balance things out. He has showed some good form since coming into the T20i team.

All-rounders

~

Glenn Maxwell was in outstanding form for Australia against India back in February. He is great value at nine credits too, particularly given he was also in good form for Lancashire Lightning through the English summer. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga as in good bowling form in Pakistan.

Bowlers

Lasith Malinga is back for Sri Lanka and he is incredible value at nine credits considering his reputation and what he did in his most recent T20i match. Nuwan Pradeep is top value too – he is just 8.5 credits despite the bowling form he showed in Pakistan. For Australia, Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins could lead their pace attack and spinner Adam Zampa – who took three wickets when these teams last met – is another good option at 8.5 credits.

Captain/Vice-captain

Glenn Maxwell was central to Australia’s most recent T20i success and, given he can bowl too, he might be a great all-round pick to consider as captain. On a batting-friendly wicket, looking at the out-and-out batsmen should also be worthwhile. David Warner is back for Australia, having been in excellent form at the IPL in one of his more recent T20 appearances.

 SQUAD:
Australia: David Warner, Aaron Finch(c), Steven Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Turner, Ashton Agar, Alex Carey(w), Kane Richardson, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Billy Stanlake, Adam Zampa, Sean Abbott, Ben McDermott.

Sri Lanka: Squad: Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Niroshan Dickwella(w), Dasun Shanaka, Wanindu Hasaranga, Lakshan Sandakan, Lasith Malinga(c), Isuru Udana, Kasun Rajitha, Nuwan Pradeep, Shehan Jayasuriya, Avishka Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Oshada Fernando.

All the best
