WI vs Ind Toss Prediction
Four of the last six one-day internationals played at this ground have been won by the side batting first. But despite that, the toss-winning captain may still opt to bowl first if the conditions turn out to be what have been predicted. Moreover with rain interruptions, setting up a target for the opposition won't be easy.
π°Team NEWS:
- Some Big names are back in ODI series like C Gayle, S Hope.
WI Team News
Chris Gayle, who missed the T20I series and had earlier opted to play in the Global T20 Canada, has returned to the West Indian ODI set-up and will probably open the batting with Evin Lewis. The 14-man squad also includes Jason Holder who will be captaining the team in addition to all-rounder Roston Chase, top-order batsman Shai Hope and fast bowler Kemar Roach. Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Khary Pierre, Anthony Bramble and Jason Mohammed, who were all part of the T20I squad, have been left out.
IND Team News
The ODI series will see the return of opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan who was ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining a thumb injury in India's second league match against Australia. The left-hander will partner Rohit Sharma at the top of the batting order with skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to take up number three and four positions respectively. Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have been retained and are likely to be slotted in the middle order. Seam bowler Mohammed Shami along with the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal are also part of India's 15-man ODI squad.

π₯Player to Watch:
Virat Kohli:
- He is currently the world's best batsman in the 50-over format and was one of India's top run-scorers in the World Cup with 443 runs which included five half-centuries. The skipper smashed a fifty in the last game and he will look to start off the ODI series with a big knock.
Yuzvendra Chahal:
- With 12 wickets in 8 matches, Chahal was one of the most impressive performers with the ball for India at the World Cup. The leg-spinner claimed a four-wicket haul against South Africa at Southampton and the team will expect him to deliver a similar performance in this first ODI.
Ravinder Jadeja:
- His late-order flurry with the bat, economical bowling coupled with exceptional fielding skills make him an asset to the Indian team. The all-rounder has 11 ODI half-centuries under his belt and has taken 176 wickets in the format which is the highest by any bowler from the current squad.
Shai Hope:
- He has been one of the most consistent performers with the bat for the West Indies across all formats. The top-order batsman has 6 hundreds and 13 fifties in ODIs along with an average of 48.48. Hope was one of the team's leading run-getters in the World Cup where he played three 50+ knocks - 68 against Australia, 96 against Bangladesh and 77 against Afghanistan.
Sheldon Cottrell:
- The left-arm fast bowler had finished as the best bowler for the West Indies in the World Cup with 12 wickets which included a four-wicket haul against New Zealand. He also finished as the team's best bowler in the preceding T20I series with four wickets at an economy of 5.92. Cottrell will lead the West Indian attack and will pose a serious threat to the Indian top-order.
Jason Holder:
- The ability to pick up wickets and score vital runs down the order makes him a valuable player in the side. The ODI skipper is the most experienced bowler from the current squad and has 129 wickets to his name. Holder has even hit nine half-centuries in the format.
